Complex systems, Inclusive design
Julia’s earlier career in architecture saw her do everything from drafting family homes in New York to co-designing public spaces with communities across Australian cities.
It allowed her to master the art of zooming in and out to design at both a micro and macro level – something that she brings with her into strategic design. Leaving architecture, Julia took a leap outside of her comfort zone and into the tech start-up world where she discovered the potential of technology as a vehicle for creating large-scale positive change. It was a period of rapid growth, allowing her to experiment with digital solutions and understand the intricacies of leveraging business models to create social impact.
Now at Tobias, Julia is responsible for continuously adapting Tobias’s operations and strategic initiatives to build connected and collaborating systems for positive change, and drives Tobias’s Theory of Change. She also provides leadership and guidance to the team, capitalising on her expertise as a qualified researcher, social entrepreneur, strategic designer and facilitator. Julia has been recognised with the Westpac Social Change Fellowship, 40 Under 40 (The University of Auckland) and 40 Under 40: Most Influential Asian-Australians (Asian-Australian Leadership Summit), among others.
When she’s not conceptualising models for positive change, she is building multi-modal cities with her preschooler.
